Old-Fashioned Family Fun
Ojai offers a scenic getaway where the family can
enjoy a small-town ambiance often be missing in today’s frantic world.
Downtown’s Avenue is a place where dad, mom and the kids stroll to get Ojai Pizza (which makes a great picnic
eaten under the trees at nearby Libbey Park), an ice cream cone at Ojai Ice Cream or old-fashioned
penny candy (remember Moon Pies?) at Kingston Candy Company.
A visit to pet the soft
alpacas the El Paca Pastures, horseback riding at the Ojai Trail
Riding Company, or a tour of local farms to pick fresh produce, allows
the family to get back to nature and enjoy the special combination of outdoor
fun and scenic beauty that our town offers.
In summer, enjoy the free
Band concerts on Wednesday nights at Libbey Park where balloons are
still 25 cents each and everyone marches around the band stand. The Fourth
of July parade is Americana in all its red-white-and-blue glory as residents line
the street with chairs to watch the parade pass by. Nearby Casitas Water
Park offers a wet adventure set among the rolling green hills of the Casitas
Recreation Area, where families can camp hike, fish and enjoy the
breathtaking beauty of the Ojai Valley’s reservoir.
It is no exaggeration
to say our Valley offers some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world
including the Sespe Wilderness and the Matilija Wilderness – just
12 miles from town. Pick up a picnic lunch at Westbridge Market or Rainbow
Bridge, and head to the hills for a day of adventure.
and inns (many with pools) offer affordable accommodations for family getaways.
